A Healthy Living Climate With Wooden Blocks

The builder, a carpenter by trade, wanted to benefit from the ecological advantages offered by solid wood: ideal biological properties, good heat insulation, breathable walls and a healthy climate.

This house in Bischofshofen was built using mixed construction (brickwork on the ground level and wood blocks on the upper level).

The ceiling on the ground floor and upstairs was made using larch and spruce wooden beams.
The strict use of structural timber protection and the use of larch wood on exposed construction pieces made its construction possible without the use of any chemical wood preservatives both indoors and outdoors.

The external surfaces of the woods were refined with a chopped surface. All in all approximately 185 cubic metres of spruce and larch wood were used in building the home. The object also makes use of the sun's energy with solar collectors and a winter garden.

This solid block house has no magnetic field, is anti-static and has low radiation. External radiation can also be effectively reduced by increasing the thickness of the walls.
