The steam-treating of wood

Precise synchronization of temperature and tim requires a delicate touch and a lot of experience ...

GedHolz_bThe steam treating process is rather simple: The wood is subjected to high temperatures and moisture. During this process, chemical conversion in the wood cells alters the colour of the wood. In practice, however, this process is not as simple as it sounds. Precise synchronization of temperature and time requires a delicate touch and a lot of experience. At Rema we have acquired both during the last few decades. This has resulted in consistently high quality for our customers.

For the end user the steam-treated wood, e.g. as antique board from Rema, offers many advantages. He gets a product which is evenly coloured throughout - without chemical additives and special requirements for processing. And he saves costly surface treatment with stains and coloured lacquers.
